Shipping lanes, highways, storage yards; gateways through which these materials leave or enter our lives. Portals through space and time for Things.

Suspended within the regularity of these containers, I see endless possibilities; open opportunities. I see destruction and creation, I see rhythm and rest. I see the potential for change.

Cargo's containers travel inbetweens, places of both endings and beginnings; stacked in quiet towers, standing like sentinels, they watch the world around them. They wait. They lurk in peaceful places once filled by Nature, now reformed by Man. Like cemeteries. Tragic, tranquil, beautiful, pendant.

I paint, carve, and stain these images because for me this best conveys the tension that I feel when I am standing there. I can freeze the roar, touch the silence, breathe, and contemplate. Windows, mirrors, monuments, materials, for Change.
